Good afternoon! This morning I had the pleasure of running in a 5k. It was a gorgeous day for a race! I really do love running in these races. It’s a chance for me to do better than I did last time and to show myself that I have improved. It’s also a great opportunity to meet new people!
I have come to realize that a “runner” isn’t necessarily about your shape, size, condition, etc. It’s more about coming together in the spirit of athleticism. It’s about camaraderie and sportsmanship. It’s about lifting each other up and pushing each other when we feel like quitting and we just can’t run one more step.
It takes a lot of courage to sign up for your first race. I had a good friend who helped me sign up for mine and ran with me. It was great having that support and I will always appreciate her for that! At every race I go to my goal is to be the support to people that might need it. I don’t know their names, how long they’ve been running, how much money they make, where they live….and you know what? I don’t care about all that. I care about helping them find that last spark of motivation to get them to the next level and finish that race!
I’m proud to say, “I am a runner!!!”
