A community comes together

Today my entry isn’t about fitness. Not in a “eating healthy and building muscle” kind of way, anyway. It’s about a community coming together to take care of someone in need. A friend of mine and her family was struck by a horrible tragedy this past weekend. Their child was injured and will be going through extensive medical treatments to help with his injuries. Serious does not begin to describe his situation. Because of the community we are in this family is receiving lots of support both emotionally and financially. Prayers are being sent from far and wide thanks to social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter. It’s a beautiful thing to see when a family needs help that we can be drawn together as a community of friends and family to offer support.

I can say from personal experience, while going through my daughters surgery and cancer treatments, that the support that came from the community around us helped us in an unimaginable way! The situation was still very stressful and scary. But knowing that we had the love and support of so many friends, families, and STRANGERS too, made such a big difference in our ability to handle the situation at hand.

I’m not sure if my friend will see this post, as I know she’s got other things on her mind right now, but I just want to let her know that I will continue to pray for her and her family through this trying time and I will support her any way that I can!

Take the time, folks, to truly appreciate what you have. Hug your loved ones tight and tell them you love them every day. Never leave them angry. Don’t hold grudges. Forgive. But most of all, love with all your heart!!!
